DCHOA REGISTRATION ...

2008-2009: Dates and locations of the 2008 WHOA/USA Hockey officiating seminars will be announced on May 17, 2008 (see above).

Returning DCHOA members do not need to complete an Independent Contractor Agreement--we have these on file. Returning officials do need to complete a new Liability Waiver if you have not done so. Returning officials do need to pay your 2008-2009 registration fee of $21. Official's logins will not be deleted; they are set to expire on December 1, 2008 if your 2008-2009 registration fees are not paid (your name will be dropped from the roster and email lists as well); after that you will be re-activated when you register for the 2008-2009 season. In order to submit availability for games (regular and Special Events) after November 30, 2008 requires that you are completely registered for the 2008-2009 season.

If you are interested in becoming a WIAA official and were not a WIAA official last year, you must submit a License Application to the WIAA. To print a copy of the application click here or you may print one from the Documents page from the Official's home page. The Official's Association number for DCHOA is 15. After you have completed the application, give it to Tim Fraley, the DCHOA Registrar, to get the required additional signatures. You can also get the signatures yourself. If you give Tim your application, please include your check to the WIAA and a stamped, addressed envelope to the WIAA.

New DCHOA members must do the following:

The forms and checks may be turned in at a DCHOA General Meeting or they may be mailed to DCHOA at P.O. Box 45237, Madison, WI 53744-5237.

DCHOA loans equipment to its first year officials. If you already have a DCHOA login, you should log in first and come back to the home page--some of the information will be filled in for you when you go to the equipment request page. You must be a first year official and you must register with DCHOA. You will be required to provide a check to cover the cost of the equipment. The check will be returned to you at the end of the season if you do not want to keep the equipment and return it to DCHOA; otherwise the check will be deposited and the equipment will be yours. To request equipment, click here.

New officials should see Become An Official for more registration information.

NEW OFF-ICE MANUALS ...
These manuals, written by Larry Carrington, DCHOA Scheduler, provide instruction in the duties of off-ice officials.

The Off-Ice Manual is for any team rep, parent, or anyone else that wants to know more about the duties of the off-ice officials in a USA Hockey or NFHS hockey game. There are sections for game timekeepers, official scorers, and penalty box operators.

The Penalty Expiration Manual covers the rules for penalty expiration. There are many examples that discuss what should go on the clock, what the on-ice strength will be, and what goes on the score sheet. There are also tables with the expiration times of penalties for the various length periods.
